How does Bartonella causes psychiatric issues?
1. Bartonella causes brain vasculitis
2. Bartonella causes brain calcification
3. Bartonella causes Tau plaques through deconstruction of the cytoskeleton.

“Evidence of a leading role for VEGF in Bartonella henselae-induced endothelial cell proliferations”
“In fact, B. henselae induces host cell production of the angiogenic factor vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), leading to proliferation of endothelial cells.”
VEGF is a ligand secreted by many cell types including endothelial cells and raised levels are used to diagnose vasculitis.

“VEGF levels in diagnosis of vasculitic neuropathy”
“Plasma VEGF was higher in subjects with vasculitic neuropathy as compared to controls.”
“The results from our study indicate that plasma VEGF levels are significantly associated with vasculitic neuropathy and may be used to predict this disease.”

“As intravascular, intra-erythrocytic and endotheliotropic bacteria, it is possible that B. henselae initially induced a vasculitis”

“Some of the most common psychological symptoms of anxiety are:
• Thinking that you may lose control and/or go ‘mad’
• Thinking that you might die
• Thinking that you may have a heart attack/be sick/faint/have a brain tumour
• Feeling that people are looking at you and observing your anxiety
• Feeling as though things are speeding up/slowing down
• Feeling detached from your environment and the people in it
• Feeling like wanting to run away/escape from the situation
• Feeling on edge and alert to everything around you”

“Central nervous system vasculitis presenting as acute psychotic disorder”
“Psychosis is an uncommon presentation of central nervous system vasculitis.”
*The difference between Lab Work and Pathology is that in Lab Work will establish the presence of a particular microbe and an Association is made between the presence of a microbe and the condition under investigation, but an Association is not a cause.
In Pathology direct links between a cause and effect are established.
This recent research is lab work that shows an increased association between psychotic conditions and Bartonella infection and this further establishes more evidence that bartonella can cause psychiatric conditions.

“Bartonella species bacteremia in association with adult psychosis”
Bartonella causes vasculitis including CNS vasculitis leading to psychiatric conditions and the available science supports this conclusion.
There are 2 more factors that contribute to these psychiatric issues, calcification and Tau;
Calcification;

Tau plaques in AD;

Current methods of treating Bartonella infections miss the point that Bartonella shuts off the immune system, it is an immune system disease and an appropriate treatment is to make the immune system function again not to use antibiotics.
Bartonella shuts off the immune system that is the real problem and antibiotics don’t fix that. You need to turn the immune system back on and that is explained here;
